Crossover Uni Knot

Crossover Uni Knot

The Crossover Uni knot is ideal for attaching either monofilament or braided line to the spool of a reel. It uses a single uni knot that is tensioned down against multiple wraps around the spool to avoid slipping.

1. The knot utilises a single uni knot with a large loop - to get started, create a large loop in your line.

2. Lay the tag end of the loop over itself.

3. Start wrapping the tag end of the line around the main line and through the loop.

4. Create at least 4 wraps.

5. Tighten down (don't fully tension) the uni knot and trim the end tag, ensuring you leave a large loop.

6. Open the bail arm of a spin reel, and drape the loop around it. For overhead reels, you will need to remove the sideplate and spool during this process, and ensure the line is passed through any level wind first.

7. Twist the loop above the reel.

8. Pass the twist over the spool as well.

9. Continue and create at least 3-4 twists and pass over the spool.

10. Moisten and work the uni knot down the main line toward the spool.

11. Once the knot is tensioned, close the bail arm and start winding line onto the spool under light pressure
